You didn’t come to Paris to shop at all the same stores you have back home, right?

The good news is: Paris is full of unique brands and boutiques that don’t exist outside of France — and I’ve spent the past few years pounding the Parisian pavement to find the best ones, updated regularly right here!

Whether you’re hunting for a fashion staple that feels oh-so French, or looking for authentic gifts for friends, here’s a few of my favorite French brands to buy in Paris (and only Paris!)

1) Chatelles (Shoes)

I’m obsessed with this adorable French shoe brand. Their colorful loafers, mules, and fancy slippers are irresistibly chic. A worthy splurge if you want to come home with something that feels trés Parisienne

2) Le Coq Sportif (Sneakers)

I get so many compliments on my Coq Sportif sneakers when I wear them in the U.S. because… they don’t have a single store in the states! So, they’re quite the rare French fashion commodity. Most sneakers make my feet look clunky, but my Coqs are slim, low-profile, and feminine. Plus, I can walk around Paris all day in them, making them the perfect urban exploring shoes. Get some while you’re here, and you’ll be stocking up every time you visit!

3) Faubourg 54 (Clothing)

Owned by a small team of young Italian fashion designers, Faubourg54’s collection of artsy — and affordable — embroidered t-shirts, sweatshirts and accessories will add some spunk to your closet. Bonus: there’s an espresso bar inside (a nod to their Italian roots).

4) From Future (Cashmere & Silk)

This youthful French brand just launched in 2018 with the loveable concept of offering high-quality cashmere and knits priced between 59€ to 139€ (a steal, by Paris standards). And this is not your grandma’s cashmere — think 90s neons, creative motifs, and retro prints. I love their breezy, easy-to-wear silk dresses, too.

5) Jérôme Dreyfuss (Bags & Accessories)

If you like your accessories understated and un-branded, Jerome Dreyfuss makes gorgeous leather bags that look expensive without screaming “I’m trying to look expensive!”(granted, they are not cheap). Stunning quality and classic designs, check out his shop in Le Marais.

6) Claris Virot (Bags & Accessories)

For a handbag that will turn heads back home, visit the Claris Virot’s showroom in the 16th. Their leather bags are works of art, and come in a rainbow of colors. I especially like their “beatle bags” (splurgey at 590€). They have belts and shoes, too.

7) Herbert Frère & Soeur (Bags & Accessories)

I love this brand for many reasons: it’s family-owned by a brother & sister duo, all their bags are handmade in a leather atelier in Brittany, and the designs are totally timeless — the perfect mix of classic craftsmanship and modern flourishes. My personal favorites are the “Jo” bucket bag and the “Nane” belt bag. Prices range from 145€ to 365€.

8) L’Artisan Parfumeur (Perfume)

France is the birthplace of perfume, and there are tons of artisan perfumeries in Paris making scents you definitely won’t find at Sephora. L’Artisan Parfumeur is one of my favorites, as the selection isn’t overwhelming and they make a lot of earthy, nature-inspired scents like “Sur l’Herbe” (in the grass) and “L’ete en Douce” (sweet summer).

Location: Find them at Paris department stores Le Bon Marché, Printemps, Galleries Lafayette, or their boutiques throughout the city.

9) Maison Sarah Lavoine (Home Decor)

The in-demand interior designer, Sarah Lavoine, has a few boutiques in Paris where you can browse her elegant, minimalist handiwork and take home a piece of modern French-girl decor. She also has a recently launched clothing line with some classic Parisian staples. Prices are splurgey, but not totally out of reach. I especially like the location in the 16th, tucked down a secret alley with a garden café attached to the boutique.

10) Macon & Lesquoy (Patches. Yes, patches.)

Perhaps the most random souvenir you’d expect to buy in Paris, Macon & Lesquoy’s claim to fame is ‘off-the-wall yet always elegant accessories’, but mostly: patches. Quirky, handmade patches. From elaborate, beaded jellyfish designs to the iron-on Pont Neuf— these little works of art are like tattoos for your clothes. An affordable and easy-to-pack gift!

11) Cire Trudon (Candles)

If fancy candles are your thing, I feel you. Diptyque is an obvious choice, but Cire Trudon’s French candle-making roots go back to the 1600s. Beautifully packaged and elaborately scented, the 75€ candles make quite the hostess gift.

12) Maison Boissier (Chocolates & Candies)

It’s tempting to want to bring home French macarons, but the cute tinned candies and chocolates from Maison Boissier are the perfectly transportable foodie gift.

Location: 77 Rue du Bac (7th), 48 Rue de Passy (16th), and at the Galeries Lafayette gourmet shop (9th).

13) Florame (Skincare)

Florame’s laboratory is based in the tiny village of Mane in Provence, where they make a collection of potent, organic skincare products from essential oils. My personal favorites are the Mousse Micellaire Nettoyante and the Correcteur Nuit Imperfections — they really work! You can find their products at health-food stores like Naturalia in Paris, and the prices are really reasonable for quality, clean skincare.
